On the shores of Lake Como, Circolo Vela Bellano welcomes racers to one of the most spectacular locations the world has to offer: sparkling blue waters, green mountains and a reliable daily wind make it a sailors’ paradise.
From March to October we have an afternoon thermal breeze from South (Breva) averaging between 8 and 15 kts, with typical lake wave height. September is usually the best month. When we have North gradient wind (Tivano) it can blow all day from 10 to 30 kts for several days, the first one being the most windy

Bellano is a flourishing tourist and industrial center situated in a panoramic position on the eastern shore of the Lario, at the mouth of the Valsassina on the delta of the Pioverna torrent.
During the Middle Ages it was a feud of the Archbishops of Milan and later became a dominion of the Visconti and Sforza families. The statutes that the village issued during the communal period, and that remained in force until 1700, are still preserved.
The ancient nucleus of the village still preserves decorated houses with beautiful facades.
Sailing Club & Facilities
Founded in 1970, the CIRCOLO VELA BELLANO ASD is a point of reference for sailing on Lake Como. The body of water in front of Bellano, between the center and the Alto Lario, offers an ideal regatta field due to the wind regime and the width of the lake basin: the place benefits from very favorable weather conditions for the practice of sailing in as for almost the whole year (and in particular in the summer months) there is a constant thermal breeze (the Breva) which begins to blow from the south around midday and remains constant until dusk.
We have separate changing rooms for females and males. One toilet and one shower for each gender plus another toilet and shower in the race office building. We have free water distributors to avoid plastic bottles.
There is a bar next to the club and a restaurant next to the club, 20 m away.
There are several bars and restaurant in centre town within walking distance, 300 m away.

By plane
The nearest airport are Milano Malpensa, Milano Linate and Milano Bergamo (Orio al Serio), from there you can get Bellano by train or buses.

By train
from Milan Central Station are available direct trains, the travel time is one hour.

By car and by ferry boat
To get to Bellano by car from Milan, Como or Bergamo, you must always go through Lecco first and then take one of the roads that run along the lake (local road or national road).
If you’re departing from Milan there are two possibilities: the first is to follow the fast national road SS36 to Sondrio and take the exit Bellano (be careful it’s just at the end of a tunnel), the second is to use the local road SP72, much more beautiful for a lovely drive but may be traffic during high season.
You can also use the ferry that departs from Bellagio and Menaggio to Varenna (4 km from Bellano), less comfortable if you have a trailer.
Navigation with public transport on Lake Como, either with your car, bike or on foot, is an experience that allows you to peacefully enjoy a wonderful natural spectacle.
